Description

First collaborative paper from the KlebNET AMR Genotype-Phenotype group, using matched genome and antimicrobial susceptibility data for more than 4000 K. pneumoniae to characterise key mutations in the chromosomal SHV beta-lactamase that confer beta-lactam resistance beyond the first generation penicillins. As a result, 533 SHV alleles were reclassified to clarify their phenotypic impact, and the classifications updated in the Kleborate, NCBI and CARD resistance gene databases
